People come and go in our lives so often that we tend to overlook the ones who showed up out of nowhere and never left. We tend to forget all of the little things they have done and still do for us because we become to focused on the people we thought we needed in our lives walk out. We focus on the ones leaving because nobody wants to lose someone from their journey of life.

But if you take a moment and really look at those around you and see who showed up when you least expected it. Who showed up out of the blue, and never left you. Who stuck by your side despite disagreement.

For me, that was you, Kayla.

This one is for you,

When I first met you, we were both so young and so naive. By that I mean we were pretty much lost souls. But I have watched you grow and mold into the woman you are today, and you have done the same for me. We have had our ups and downs. We even went through phases were we didn’t know if we even wanted to be friends anymore. But regardless of all of our disagreements, we have grown together.

No matter what we go though, we always bounce back closer than ever. I have learned so much about you and your past. I have learned over the years the things that have molded you into who you are. I have also learned that no matter what we go through, we grow through.

I am beyond happy that I was lucky enough to cross your path.

You may not know how much you have taught me, because quite honestly I couldn’t tell you myself. But it has been a lot. I am so thankful to have someone as incredible as you in my life. I titled this post as, “the best friend I didn’t know I needed,” because at the time that we met, I thought I had it all. I thought I knew it all. I had so many “friends” I would go out with every weekend. But over the years, I have noticed all of those so called friends fading away. Now here I am, three hours away from the life I grew to know, and out of the few friends that stuck around, you were one of them.

Thank you for everything that you do for me, thank you for being you and letting me be me.
